Harnessing this moment: we’re doubling down for change

We have a bold plan: to amplify our reach across the whole of Australia and activate thousands more people to demand meaningful action on climate change. But we need your help to achieve it.

As we adapt to the Covid-19 crisis and start looking toward the future, we have an opportunity to reshape our world into what we want it to be - a world where we work together to make the courageous and urgent changes needed to return a safe climate.

However, right now our government is choosing a different path by planning to build our future on the back of fossil fuels.

The only way to change that is if everyday Australians - you, me, our friends, families, neighbours, colleagues and whole communities - hold our elected representatives to account so that together we start building a future we want.

We know most Australians are worried about climate change and want more action to be taken, but a lot of them don't understand what needs to be done. In fact, there’s so much ‘white noise’ about climate change - so many ideas, thoughts and seemingly conflicting information - that the many people who are concerned find it easier to turn away and focus on something else.

We need the majority of people who already want strong climate action to demand change. We need to be able to cut through the noise and empower everyday people - like you and me - to act.

Over the past few months we’ve been reviewing our impact, and one of the most exciting things we found is that our Climate Conversations reach exactly this particular group of people - people who are concerned about climate change but don't know what needs to be done or how they can make change - and empower them to act.

Our Conversations are an incredibly powerful tool in giving people the space and a framework to make sense of the ‘white noise’ around climate change, and to know how to take effective action. We need to grow our reach to harness this moment and grow the climate groundswell.

We have a bold plan: to amplify our reach across the whole of Australia and activate thousands more people to demand meaningful action on climate change.

Our plan is to have trained volunteers to facilitate Climate Conversations in every single Australian state and territory by next year.

But we need your help to achieve it.

What’s stopping us from growing Climate Conversations has never been a lack of interest: we consistently have more people wanting to host and facilitate than we could support. Our limit has been our capacity to train new facilitators, particularly in places where we don’t have physical presence.

That’s where you step in.

You can help us by investing in our capacity to grow so that we never say no to opportunities to train new facilitators, supercharging our reach in every Australian state and territory.

With your help, we can move our Climate Conversations and trainings online, reaching dozens more volunteers remotely, and all at once, to facilitate Conversations no matter where they are.

With your help, we can work toward making sure that creating a safe climate underpins our future world.

But to be able to amplify our work and reach thousands more people nationally, we need at least 50 people to join us as regular supporters. We are asking you to become one of those crucial supporters today as part of our Double Down for Change Appeal.

DONATE MONTHLY

For just one week, we have the opportunity to take your support twice as far and have double the impact.

When you make your first regular contribution between 5pm May 31st and 5pm June 7th, your donation will be matched by a generous anonymous donor - not once, but twice.

That is, when you join our 200-strong community of regular contributors today, your gift will be doubled in both June and July, having a greater impact now than at any other time.

We know that if just 50 more people sign up to support us, we'll have the financial stability to build the online infrastructure we need to train new facilitators wherever they are, and whenever they sign up.

Can you become one of our regular contributors and empower us to scale Climate Conversations in all Australian states by next year?

By donating, you will be activating climate leaders across the country and enabling us to never say no again to inspiring Australians to take urgent and effective climate action.

I really hope you can join us and help us create the social climate for effective climate action across Australia. We need to harness this pivotal moment and build a better world together.
