Do you feel that climate change is too big a problem for you to really make a difference? It is easy to feel this way as just one individual. But collectively, our power is immense

We get to decide what’s socially acceptable and what’s not, and our democratic action shapes the policies and decisions that will determine our climate, now and in the future. That’s why talking about climate change matters. The more we talk to friends and families that care about climate change, the more we join forces and amplify the public demand for action.

We’re here to help. Our Climate for Change training helps you become more confident in talking about climate change, and teaches you the skills to facilitate conversations for others.

In our 2-hour Effective Conversations workshop, you’ll build the confidence and skills to talk about climate change in ways that truly connect with people in your life.

Through a series of engaging activities, real-life examples, and guided practice in small breakout groups, you’ll learn how to:

  • Navigate tricky topics and respond to common climate questions and reactions - from scepticism and apathy, to doomism and denial.
  • Share your own authentic climate story in a way that motivates and inspires others.
  • Break through the “climate silence” by turning everyday conversations into powerful opportunities for change.

This is a supportive, energising space for you to feel more confident in your own conversation skills, connect with others, and walk away feeling empowered to make an impact - starting with the people around you. Whether you’re new to climate conversations or looking to sharpen your skills, this workshop will meet you where you're at and help you take the next step.

At the end of the session, you’ll learn how to go further by facilitating conversations in our Climate Conversations program, or joining our MP Engagement Group program. Or you can simply take your new skills into your own everyday life, knowing you are part of a growing community of people together making a difference. Every trainee becomes part of our supportive facilitator community, and gets access to our free ongoing facilitator training sessions.

Look for our next ‘Effective Conversations’ training session in our upcoming events tab. If none of these dates work for you, or if you’re interested in arranging an Effective Conversations workshop for your workplace or community group, please email [email protected]

Hear from our past facilitators

"I used to find talking about climate change extremely confronting and had struggled to share my concerns with others. Now I have started facilitating conversations and I don't intend on stopping. The people involved with Climate for Change constantly give me the energy and buzz to keep going!"

– Charles, Climate Conversation facilitator

“Facilitating Climate for Change Conversations has been an incredible experience. I have learnt a lot about myself and about how to have effective conversations on climate change, which has been extremely valuable. During the Conversations, it was amazing to see people learning and empowering each other to take real action and the discussions were inspirational and exhilarating.”

Oli, Climate Conversation facilitator

“I have been a climate activist for 10 years and given lots of talks about both the science and the emotional aspects of engagement and disengagement, but this event did both in an integrated way and was the most satisfying I have experienced.”

Carol, Climate Conversation facilitator
