Ongoing Facilitator Training - July 2021

OFT Agenda: Grief and Hope

Outline: At this OFT we'll reflect and learn from recent Conversations, and also welcome two guest speakers to cover two important topics.

In this interactive session, Peter and Jeremy will lead us through an exploration of two distinct but complimentary sets of emotions - grief and hope.

Drawing on his expertise as a clinical psychologist, Peter will help us identify some strategies for living with our climate grief and anxiety, and finding resilience. Jeremy will explore the role of hope and humour in facilitating Climate Conversations and the role they can play in helping motivate people to action.

About our presenters:

Peter became a C4C facilitator in 2018 and has facilitated over 20 Conversations - co-facilitating with his amazing partner Chris. Over recent months climate work has become a full time job but he still works part-time as a clinical psychologist and harbours a secret ambition to become a geriatric rock and role star.

Jeremy works in environmental land management and gets on his bike to get away from things. Jeremy is interested in what makes us tick when it comes to climate change and has been a C4C facilitator since 2016. He's facilitated 28 Conversations since then and is interested in uncovering ways to incorporate more hope and humour into our Climate Conversations given the important role that these play in motivating people to act.
