Face-to-face Ongoing Facilitator Training - June 2021

OFT Agenda: Update on Communicating the Climate Science with Dr Simon Bradshaw

Outline: For this special presentation, we invite you to gather in the one place with other C4C Facilitators from your state as we hear from Dr Simon Bradshaw, one of the authors of the latest report from the Climate Council - Aim High, Go Fast; Why Emissions Need to Plummet this Decade

Simon will give a presentation on the latest science in the report and the findings from Climate Council's research about the best communication and messaging for this content.
We will give everyone a chance to digest this information and ask questions before we share how this work has been incorporated into content and format updates for our Climate Conversations.
About our guest:
Dr Simon Bradshaw is a Researcher on climate science and impacts at the Climate Council. He has been a writer and campaigner for climate action for over a decade and was formerly the Climate Change Advocacy Lead at Oxfam Australia. Simon’s research and advocacy has taken him to the Torres Strait Islands, Tibet, India, throughout the Pacific, and to many rounds of international climate negotiations. He is passionate about climate justice and the role of climate action in reducing poverty and inequality. His research with the Climate Council covers extreme weather, bushfires, health, security and many other areas of climate science and impacts.
This session will be available on Zoom, but we strongly encourage you to join (or lead) a local gathering to be in the same space as others for the presentation.

Given the challenging nature of facing the truth and volunteering in the climate space, we strongly encourage everyone who attends this session to also join us at the following OFT (Tuesday July 13) - as two of our own community lead us in a session dedicated to the topics of grief and hope. The follow-up session will give us all the opportunity to reflect and identify measures to sustain ourselves in this challenging space.

You can also book into other upcoming OFT's here!
