New Facilitator Training

Welcome to New Facilitator Training. This is an exciting time to be joining our wonderful community of volunteer facilitators as we create the social climate in Australia for effective action on climate change. Please do not RSVP to a session if you are based outside of Australia, as we currently are unable to accommodate you. If you haven't already, register your interest here and you will be added to our list of interested parties and we will be in touch with any opportunities that arise.

The Training program operates within our Mentor Program, so signing up for a training session is one part of the journey, but the other parts include matching you with an experienced facilitator who will mentor you through the initial phase of getting started. Because of this, we need to ensure we leave enough time between now and your training session for the matching process to take place, as well as to complete the preparation work required.

Host a Climate Conversation

If you haven't managed to find an NFT date that works, we'd love you to consider Hosting a Climate Conversation as a great interim step to facilitating.  We have a bunch of facilitators who are ready and raring to facilitate for you so just head over to our Host page to sign up.

RSVP for New Facilitator Training: Live session

We are super excited that you are on your way to become a Climate for Change facilitator!

    This 3-hour training session will:

    • prepare you with knowledge of our Conversation Program's history,
    • provide you an opportunity to further explore and craft your own personal narrative, and
    • lets you practice the skills needed to get started with facilitating your own Conversations.

To successfully complete the live session, we ask that you complete the following materials prior:

    • Course 1: Talking about climate change activities
    • The first chapter of Course 2: Facilitating Climate Conversations.

These are found in our online learning platform.

    PLEASE NOTE
: As part of the facilitator training process, you will either be supported by a mentor in a small group or mentored 1:1 if you prefer. You'll be part of your chosen mentor group from now until just after you facilitate your first Conversation. There are three main touch-points:

    1. A session to connect with your mentor
    2. A Climate Conversation hosted by you and facilitated on Zoom by your mentor
You and other mentees will each invite 2-3 guests along and debrief on the conversation afterward
    3. A session a few weeks later to plan or debrief your first Conversation as facilitator.

It's really important that you're able to make it to each of these sessions (in addition to the live training session). They're all essential stepping stones towards becoming a facilitator and it will be hard to catch you up on the training afterwards if you miss a date. Before signing up to a Mentor group, make sure that you're able to make it to each of these dates, and put them in your diary straight up.

So what are you waiting for?
RSVP to this New Facilitator Training and we'll send you the dates for our Mentor Groups.
    Let's get you booked in!

We acknowledge the traditional custodians of country throughout Australia, whose sovereignty was never ceded. We acknowledge that Indigenous peoples around the world are at the forefront of climate change, both in experiencing its effects and leading solutions for change.
