Zoom MPEG - 3 September

RSVP for our Zoom MP Engagement Group (MPEG) - Tuesday 3rd September 7.30-9pm (AEST)

Join us on Tuesday, September 3rd at 7:30 PM (AEST) for an engaging online session led by Nina Atkinson, campaigner with the Australian Democracy Network, working on the #OurDemocracy campaign. The Australian Democracy Network is at the forefront of advocating for a comprehensive overhaul of federal lobbying laws to ensure greater transparency and fairness in our democratic process.

In this session, Nina will delve into the findings of the recent Senate inquiry into professional lobbying, highlighting why the results fall short of what is needed. She will also discuss actionable steps you can take to engage with your MP on this critical issue.

While federal lobbying laws may seem unrelated to the climate emergency, they play a crucial role in shaping the influence of climate and environment-damaging industries. The current weaknesses in these laws allow these industries to wield disproportionate power, undermining efforts to protect our environment.

Don’t miss this opportunity to learn, engage, and make a difference. Together, we can work towards a more transparent and fair democracy that prioritises the health of our planet.

Make sure you RSVP below for the Zoom link!

At this session, you will also have the opportunity to take action on local and national campaigns or other current climate issues.

We'll support you to put effective pressure on our Federal and State MPs by writing emails and planning calls and visits to them. If you're new to this activity there'll be plenty of help and all the resources you need to take effective action. Whether you're a newbie, or have joined us before, everyone is welcome!

You'll need your laptop or tablet. We'll have templates, materials, and ideas to make it easy to write emails to MPs that make a difference.

We'll send you the Zoom link when you RSVP below.

Newcomers welcome! What are you waiting for? :)
