MPEG Community training: Talking to your MP

Join us for a special MPEG Community training workshop – strategies for talking to MPs and getting real action on climate!

This online workshop session is designed to help you meet with your MP and get them speaking about climate in Parliament, listening to the community and delivering what community members want when it comes to climate policy.

The session will be designed for those who have already reached out to their MP via email, might have a dialogue going, and want to take things further with an in person MP meeting. We’ll go through the steps to get a meeting, help you develop questions to ask and talk you through the resources you might like to use, like the Climate Council’s Climate policies for a sensible government.

Special guest speakers:

C4C’s co-CEO Jane Stabb will be back to talk to us about strategies for talking to MPs about climate, and how to set up an effective meeting. Jane is an organiser by trade, and has worked and volunteered in the climate movement for the past decade. She's run scaled, people-powered campaigns building and leveraging community power to get wins for our climate. She loves supporting people and communities to make change, and she is passionate about creating a safe world for those who come after us.

Stephanie McKew from Environmental Leaders Australia (ELA) will talk about the best strategies for engaging with conservative MPs. Stephanie is an experienced corporate affairs, communications and stakeholder engagement professional and a senior policy adviser. She has held a number of senior policy positions in the former Federal Coalition Government, working in the portfolio areas of energy, environment, industry, science and skills. She has worked for a Prime Minister and a number of Cabinet Ministers, and is keen to share her extensive knowledge with those who want to engage with their Coalition MPs.

We encourage ALL our MPEG hosts, group members and our MPEG community to attend this session, as there will be loads of really useful information and a chance to ask specific questions about your MP and electorate.

We hope to see you there!
