Personal Narrative Preparation

Our Personal Narrative sets the tone of the Conversation and builds our relationship with our attendees. The success of the rest of our Conversation can hinge upon whether we tell our own story well. The purpose of our personal narrative is:

  • to build trust and connection with our audience
  • to connect our audience with values within them that will motivate them to act
  • to contextualise facts and data in ways that are meaningful and memorable
  • to sow seeds and evoke curiosity to learn more
  • to hold a mirror to our audience that encourages them to self reflect.

It is also an opportunity to reveal a new frame; to show, rather than tell.

Write your Personal Narrative
Now it's your turn! Write your own Personal Narrative, using the recources on this page. When you are done, you can send through to Mike (cc your Mentor) as either a written document or a video/audio file, depending on what works best for you.

We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of Country throughout Australia, whose sovereignty was never ceded. We acknowledge that Indigenous peoples around the world are at the forefront of climate change, both in experiencing its effects and leading solutions for change. We pay our sincerest respects to all Elders, past and present.
